At IIMT Business Incubator Foundation (IIMT BIF), we believe in learning by doing — and our latest initiative, the #GitTogether workshop, is a shining example of that commitment. In collaboration with GDG On Campus IIMT, we conducted a 3-day hands-on workshop aimed at strengthening students’ understanding of Git, GitHub, and real-world collaboration workflows.
🚀 What #GitTogether Offered:
Over the span of three impactful days, participants explored key concepts and built practical skills essential for any aspiring developer or open-source contributor.
🔹 Day 1: Getting Started with Git & GitHub
Students received a foundational walkthrough of version control, Git commands, GitHub repositories, branches, and pull requests — with live practice sessions and Q&A.
🔹 Day 2: Build & Deploy – Live Project Development
Students teamed up to build mini live projects in real time and successfully pushed their code to GitHub. This gave them confidence to collaborate in real-world coding environments.
🔹 Day 3: Open Source & Best Practices
The final day was focused on GitHub workflow best practices, open-source contributions, and how to raise PRs, resolve merge conflicts, and maintain clean, collaborative codebases.
